Kerodex ® Light Deflectant Cream

A Water Repellent Cream Base that prevents photodermatitis caused by harsh sunlight and UV radiation.

Protects the skin which is exposed to photosensitising material in combination with irritant rays. It can be used on the face, hands and forearms and absorbs irritant rays arising from the welding processes, furnace operations, coal tar during welding operation, working in By-products plant, coke-oven department of steel plants and heat treatments. It also protects the skin against the photosensitising action of heavy coal tar distillates and oil distillation residues in combination with exposure to ultraviolet light. 

What is a Light Defectant Cream?

Formulated as a bland cream incorporating a combination of deflectant agents. It protects the skin which is exposed to photosensitising material in combination with irritant rays.

Need for a Light Defectant Cream?

Excess exposure to Harsh Sunlight causes Skin Cancer, Photodermatitis, Skin Aging, Wrinkling, Loss of Elasticity & Cataracts

 

Exposure to UV rays causes leathery skin, liver spots, scaly patches on the skin, degeneration of tissue, eye problems, weak immune system. Coal Tar exposure may cause cancer of the lung, bladder, kidney & the digestive tract.. Welding operations can lead to skin burns & skin cancer. Coke oven exposure causes skin infections

 

Symptoms of Photodermatitis:

Photodermatitis occurs on the Scalp, Face, Chest and around the ears. It appears in the form of:

  • Itchy bumps, blisters, or raised areas

  • Lesions that resemble eczema

  • Hyperpigmentation (dark patches on your skin)

  • Outbreaks in areas of skin exposed to light

  • Pain, redness, and swelling

  • Chills, headache, fever, and nausea

Application for Light Deflectant Cream

Before work 2 gms of the cream should be applied to clean dry hands up to the wrists and 4 gms up to the elbows. Reapply every 3 hours. The hands may be washed during this period without affecting the protective film on the skin.
